Chevron refinery worker, 49, dies in early-morning furnace blast

It's something that refinery workers in Georgia know is always a possibility. A plant operator was killed in a work accident when a fire and explosion occurred at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery, the blast vibrating throughout the city.

Tree service worker dies after being struck by a truck

A Georgia contractor working at an Adamsville, Ala., residence to remove trees has died of his injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Nov. 16. The accident took place along Highway 78 in Adamsville and resulted in the additional injury of a woman at the scene.

Workplace safety records may be made public

Workers across Georgia could find safety information on their employer at their fingertips if the U.S. Department of Labor is successful in changing the way companies file their safety records. The proposed rule would require companies with at least 250 employees to file workplace injury and illness reports electronically. Currently employers are only required to post the information on bulletin boards in common areas in the workplace.

Garbage truck passenger killed in accident on exit ramp

An employee of the City of Atlanta Public Works Department was killed in a garbage truck crash along Interstate 75. The workplace accident resulted in another employee suffering from critical injuries. According to statements from the Atlanta Police Department, it is unclear what led to the fatal accident. At the time of the report, police had launched an investigation to determine all of the contributing factors.
